Happy December, Happy Hall Families! I hope you all had an amazing fall break and Thanksgiving spent with your loved ones. We are nearing the end of the year and have many fun and festive activities planned.
Thank you for being part of this supportive community and we look forward to celebrating the season with you all!
Program Highlights
Engagement Activities
This month, we will be learning about “Reactions & Mixtures”, our Theme 8 of our curriculum. The students will be experimenting with reactions and observing cause & effect in different STEAM projects. In addition, we will also be diving into the theme of “Oceans & Marine Life”. One of the STEAM projects we will be having the students participate in is to make their own ocean giants!

Community Events
Happy Hall will be partnering with Lomita Park PTA to bring a fun holiday celebration for you and your families!
We will be holding a Potluck Celebration on Friday, December 20th. The event will begin at 5:30pm and will conclude around 6:45pm.
We encourage families to bring a dish that can serve at least 5-8 people and that they would love to share with all of our other families! Please ensure we keep in mind the various allergies people may have, so please make sure to bring food that doesn’t contain nuts of any kind and seafood.
We look forward to this big collaboration and being able to have all of us together to celebrate before the winter break! Please see the flyer at the bottom of this page for more info. Winter Camp is coming up soon! Join us for fun-filled winter camp days right here at Happy Hall.

Reminders
We would love to remind Happy Hall Lomita Park Families regarding the following:
December 20th: Minimum day, student’s release at 12:30pm (happy hall will still continue as normal and begin at their dismissal time until 6pm).
Winter Recess: December 23 - January 3rd
Please send us an email whenever your child(ren) will not be attending the after school program (lomitapark@happyhall.com). This way we know they will not be joining us for Happy Hall. In the event we do not receive notification, we will follow up with a phone call home to inquire about their whereabouts, to ensure they are safe. In addition, if we do not know that your child will be absent and we do not receive notification, after 7 unexcused absences, students will be removed from the program.
For AM care, students should only arrive between the hours of 7:00 am and 7:30 am.. In addition, students who arrive after 7:30 am are marked late; after 7 late arrivals students will be removed from that program specifically, but would still be able to attend the after school program if they are enrolled there as well. For families arriving late, please be sure to fill out the form we have on site and if it is an excusable reason, it will be excused.
If you ever need to pick up your student early, please ensure you are signing the early pickup form, which is located at the sign-out cart in the MUR. If it is not there, please make sure to ask a staff member to grab it for you. As a reminder, if students are picked up early 7 times without this document being filled in, they will be removed from the program as well.
If you wish for your child to walk home, you must complete our Walk-Home Authorization Form. This form must be completed for each student. If you need any assistance or have any questions, please reach out to us and we will be happy to help you!

Looking Ahead
Next month, we will be continuing our theme in “Oceans & Marine Life” and also starting the theme of “Inventions and Inventors”. One STEAM project that stood out to us was a Ping Pong Pick Up Challenge where the students will be able to develop their problem-solving skills by testing and improving their devices, they will learn to troubleshoot and adjust their designs.

¡Feliz diciembre, familias de Happy Hall! Espero que todos hayan tenido un maravilloso descanso de otoño y un Día de Acción de Gracias rodeados de sus seres queridos. Nos acercamos al final del año y tenemos muchas actividades divertidas y festivas planeadas.
¡Gracias por ser parte de esta comunidad tan solidaria! ¡Esperamos celebrar esta temporada con todos ustedes!
Aspectos Destacados del Programa
Este mes, aprenderemos sobre “Reacciones y Mezclas”, el Tema 8 de nuestro plan de estudios. Los estudiantes experimentarán con reacciones y observarán la causa y el efecto en diferentes proyectos STEAM. Además, también exploraremos el tema de “Océanos y Vida Marina”. ¡Uno de los proyectos STEAM en los que participarán los estudiantes es crear sus propios gigantes del océano!

Eventos Comunitarios
Happy Hall se asociará con Lomita Park PTA para traer una divertida celebración navideña para ustedes y sus familias.
Tendremos una Celebración de Comida Compartida el viernes 20 de diciembre. El evento comenzará a las 5:30 p.m. y concluirá alrededor de las 6:45 p.m.
¡Animamos a las familias a traer un platillo que pueda servir al menos a 5-8 personas y que les encantaría compartir con las demás familias! Por favor, tengan en cuenta las diferentes alergias, así que asegúrense de no traer alimentos que contengan frutos secos ni mariscos.
¡Esperamos con ansias esta gran colaboración y poder celebrar todos juntos antes del descanso de invierno! Por favor, consulten el volante al final de esta página para más información.

Recordatorios
Nos gustaría recordar a las familias de Happy Hall Lomita Park lo siguiente:
20 de diciembre: Día mínimo, salida de los estudiantes a las 12:30 p.m. (Happy Hall continuará normalmente desde la hora de salida hasta las 6:00 p.m.).
Receso de Invierno: 23 de diciembre - 3 de enero.
Por favor, envíenos un correo electrónico siempre que su(s) hijo(s) no asistirá(n) al programa después de la escuela (lomitapark@happyhall.com). De esta manera sabremos que no asistirán a Happy Hall. En caso de no recibir notificación, realizaremos una llamada a casa para asegurarnos de que estén seguros. Además, si no se nos notifica la ausencia y acumulamos 7 faltas injustificadas, los estudiantes serán retirados del programa.
Para el programa de la mañana (AM care), los estudiantes sólo deben llegar entre las 7:00 a.m. y las 7:30 a.m. Los estudiantes que lleguen después de las 7:30 a.m. se marcan como tarde. Si acumulan 7 llegadas tarde, serán retirados de ese programa, pero podrán continuar asistiendo al programa después de la escuela si están inscritos. Para las familias que lleguen tarde, asegúrense de llenar el formulario que tenemos en el sitio. Si hay una razón justificable, se excusará.
Si necesita recoger a su estudiante temprano, por favor asegúrese de firmar el formulario de salida temprana, que se encuentra en el carrito de registro en el MUR. Si no está, por favor pídale a un miembro del personal que lo busque. Como recordatorio, si se recoge a los estudiantes temprano 7 veces sin llenar este documento, también serán retirados del programa.
Si desea que su hijo camine a casa, debe completar nuestro Formulario de Autorización para Caminar a Casa. Este formulario debe completarse para cada estudiante. Si necesita ayuda o tiene preguntas, no dude en contactarnos; ¡estaremos encantados de ayudarle!

Próximos Eventos
El próximo mes continuaremos con nuestro tema “Océanos y Vida Marina” y también comenzaremos el tema de “Inventos e Inventores”. Un proyecto STEAM que nos llamó la atención fue el Reto de Recolección de Pelotas de Ping Pong, donde los estudiantes desarrollarán sus habilidades para resolver problemas al probar y mejorar sus dispositivos. Aprenderán a solucionar problemas y ajustar sus diseños.
